November 9, 2021: SMALL TOWN * BIG ART (County of Maui + Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House/ Maui Historical Society + Maui Public Art Corps) is awarded a grant through the National Endowment for the Arts to: A) sustain and develop place-based, culturally rooted public art collaborations in Wailuku; B) design public art activities in up to three new Maui County neighborhoods; and C) deliver a public art master plan for the County of Maui, which will include an arts district management plan for the town of Wailuku.
- March 28: Councilmember Yuki Lei Sugimura meeting (with Deputy Director of Council Services David Raatz; Legislative Analysts Alison Stewart and Paige Greco and Planning & Development Chief Erin Wade) re Resolution to officially designate the Wailuku Arts District
- March 23: Wailuku Live meeting re evolution to Arts District web presence for County of Maui
- March 16: Wailuku Performing Arts Alliance meeting (agenda) to recruit Plan Committee members
- February 28: Meeting with Wailuku Community Association President & Treasurer Kristin Holmes re a "need to focus on the wonderfulness of the people that are making art that reflects this place."
- February 3: County of Maui meeting re the Plan's primary goal: "Create a strategy to coalesce interested players under an umbrella called Wailuku Arts District that ultimately leads to coordinated facility + public space planning, management and maintenance."
